We have improved our app Raons Analytics. Now it offers online access to useful data for decision-making in workspaces

At Raons we want to contribute to increasing the analysis capacity of organizations when carrying out their strategic planning, providing tools to analyze aspects such as the suitability of spaces, the type of telework, the reduction of costs and the internal dynamics of collaboration.

For this reason, we have improved our Raons Analytics software with the support the Barcelona City Council to offer online access to the data collected in space observations, in order to serve as an analytical basis for informed decision-making of the organizations that require the service. This improvement has been made in collaboration with Petros Koutsolampros from The Bartlett School of Architecture, with whom we developed the original version of the tool in 2019.

To assess the improvement, we carried out a pilot test at the Nau Bòstik offices, where we did systematic space observations for a week in May. A cross-sectional analysis based on the information collected and the visualizations made through specific software for spatial analysis has resulted in a database on the use of spaces. The report, which contains a summary of the structured information with the aim of making it understandable for the organizations, is available for online consultation on the Raons website through user and password protected access.

This action went through an evaluation survey sent to the groups installed in the Nau Bòstik office spaces, whose responses affirm that the design of the office can influence both the productivity of the organization and the well-being of the workers, for what is important is to provide suitable spaces for the different needs of each professional and social environment. In addition, the people surveyed confirm that collectively reflecting on workspaces is an opportunity to increase collaboration between people and to create healthier spaces.

Regarding the usefulness of the information provided by the study, the most valued aspects are those related to the use of meeting and alternative spaces, as well as the indicators associated with movement and interaction of people and teams. In the context of this specific case, an old industrial site converted into new spaces,  in which there are currently plenty of square meters available, the data referring to the occupancy and efficiency of workspaces have not been considered as the most useful aspects of the analysis.

At the same time, the promotional material developed has been highly valued both in terms of the content and language used, as well as in relation to the explanation and the generation of interest about the service. The platform has been described as adequate in terms of format, although some comments have been collected that will allow us to improve the visualization in order to achieve the objective of making it a useful database for strategic decision-making in organizations.
